Anuj comes home and finds all his favourite things like a blue kurta and lime water laid out in the bedroom. This makes him think of Mala but when he finds out that Ambi has arranged these for him, he loses interest and rejects them.
Anuj and Ambi are interrupted by Ved who asks Anuj about how they will celebrate Imarti Devi's 50th birthday. Ambi tells him that she has a great idea for it. But Anuj doesn't allow her to finish and takes Ved out of the room to discuss their plans.
Sajni is bemoaning Ved's lack of interest in her when she finds a necklace inside a box. Thinking that he has gotten it for her, Sajni is very happy and tries on the necklace.
Sajni thanks Ved for the necklace and tries to get closer to him but Ved pushes her away and rebukes her, saying that the necklace is a gift for Imarti Devi for her birthday. He makes her remove the necklace and tells her that she has spoiled the gift.
Kusum asks Sonu to switch off the television and study as his school is about to start. Sonu ignores her and continues watching TV. Annoyed by this, Kusum switches off the television. In order to rebel, Sonu calls out for Imarti Devi.
Imarti Devi taunts Kusum and warns her to let Sonu do what he wants. Not just that, she makes Kusum apologize to Sonu with folded hands. Kusum has to comply and Sonu starts watching TV again, leaving Kusum humiliated.
Sonu changes the channel to a news channel where a presenter informs that a ship off Dubai has been hijacked by pirates. Kusum panics and thinks that Prakash is on that ship. She is anxious to know if Prakash is safe.
Kusum informs Sajni about the news article and Sajni suggests her to call Prakash. She calls Prakash secretly and asks about his safety. Prakash talks rudely to her and hangs up. Kusum is relieved that he is safe but hurt at the same time.
Imarti Devi catches Kusum and Sajni near the telephone. She asks Kusum whom she was talking to. Kusum gets scared and lies that she was not calling anybody.
Imarti Devi redials the number that Kusum called and confirms that she had called Prakash. Knowing that Kusum had lied to her, she clutches her with a telephone wire around her neck. Kusum apologizes to her.
Inspite of Kusum's apologies, Imarti Devi doesn't relent and insists on punishing her for her mistake. She pushes Kusum to the ground picks up a bunch of red chillies while Kusum looks on in shock.
Imarti Devi tells Kusum that instead of a punishment, she is going to give her an exercise. She picks up a handful of the red chillies and says very sweetly that Kusum will have to eat all those chillies in front of her. Kusum and Sajni are horrified.
