Himesh Reshammiya burst on to the music scene in 1998, but he was always grounded in music. Himesh was born in Mumbai to Gujarati music director Vipin Reshammiya. He was involved in making television serials before he got a break with Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. And there was no looking back after that.
Himesh has given music to many of Salman's films like Yeh Hai Jalwa, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Tere Naam and Bodyguard. Most of these songs, especially those from Tere Naam, have been super successful, making him a favourite with film makers.
Not satisfied with being only a music director, Himesh picked up the mike and sang for Aashiq Banaya Aapne. His unique voice, style of singing and his cap and jacket look became an instant rage, and catapulted him to celebrity status. He went on to sing Tera Suroor, Zara Jhoom Jhoom and Tanhaiyyan, which also had immense mass appeal.

After this film, he kept his passion for acting alive and played the lead in four more movies- Karzzzz, Radio, Kajraare and Damadamm!. He also has 3 more films to be released, so Himesh the actor is very much alive!
Now as the mentor and Captain of the Indian singers on SurKshetra, Himesh is expected to guide them through the musical maze. Himesh, with his outspoken nature and quirky one liners, will be a delight to watch on the show. We just hope the set atmosphere doesn't get too heated up with Himesh in the Captain's seat!
