Ayesha Takia, actress and glam doll in equal parts, is making her debut on TV as the host of SurKshetra. We introduce you to Bollywood's newest entrant into television, Ayesha Takia.
Ayesha Takia's initial foray into Bollywood was in the Imtiaz Ali film, Socha Na Tha. But her other film, Taarzan-The Wonder Car, released first, making it her debut film. She was appreciated in both her films, with Socha Na Tha being a favourite with the youngsters even today.
Ayesha's debut impressed one and all, and she won 3 Best Debutante awards that year. Her film 'Dor' was also well received, winning her 4 awards.
But films were not Ayesha Takia's first brush with stardom. She appeared in her first ad at the age of 4 and went on to do more than 50 ads as a child artist.
She also acted in two music videos, 'Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaaye' and 'Shake it Daddy' when she was in her teens. Her innocent good looks brought her into the notice of many film makers.
She has acted in 22 movies, and has another film in her kitty as of now. Her films have been a mix of commercial masala films, as well as off beat films like Dor and Mod, which brought her critical acclaim and praise.Her most successful film to date is 'Wanted', in which she starred opposite Salman Khan. This film was a super-success, catapulting her to the big league.
She married her long term boyfriend, restaurateur Farhan Azmi on March 1, 2009, becoming one of the few actresses who have married at a young age while still at their peak. She has continued working after movies.
Apart from films, Ayesha is an avid traveller and a foodie. We guess that comes with the territory when you're married to a restaurateur! Ayesha also loves taking off on long drives with her friends.
She is one of the few actresses who puts her foot down when it comes to intimacy. Even though she is a dream pin up girl, she is against revealing clothes and intimate scenes. Her take on it is that she will not do anything on screen that will embarrass her in front of her family or (future) children. Well that is certainly a different way of looking at intimacy on screen!
Ayesha Takia will be making the big jump to the small screen with SurKshetra. She has taken on the mantle of the anchor of this musical extravaganza which pitches talented singers from India and Pakistan against each other. All the more reason to watch this musical battle!
