The anchor-turned-singer-turned dancer, Shibani Dandekar came into limelight after hosting IPL extra-innings. She rocked the Jhalak stage for eleven weeks and will always be remembered as one of the finest performers on the stage.
Shibani and her choreographer-partner Punit have been one of the most consistent performers on Jhalak since the begining. This act by the duo on 100 years of Bollywood came under the scanner when judge Karan Johar pointed out that they shouldn't have enacted the personal life of the actors on a big stage like Jhalak. The act was conceptualized around the romance between Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan's romance during the making of Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam
After a serious criticism on their last act, Shibani came back with an act that made everyone present on the show cry out loud. In the Rashi special episode, Shibani and Punit enacted the story of Shibani's cousin brother who succumbed to Cancer. The duo played brother and sister and presented an emotional contemporary.
This was a surprise package for the judges. Shibani did a full on nautanki item number and won accolades for her efforts of shaking the kamariya like a desi babe!
Desi nautanki was followed by a sensuous Tango! Draped in a bronze dress, Shibani's sultry beuty added oodles of sex appeal to the spicy act on the song 'Teri neeyat Khabaar Hai'
Shibani and Punit by the sixth week became one of the strong contenders on the show as they impressed the judges by pulling of the challenge of dancing with a wall in between with ease.
The duo gave a unique tribute to Rajesh Khanna by performing on an instrumental version of the Late Superstar's superhit song. they played the deaf and mute couple who can listen to each other's thoughts.
Looks like being mute proved to be a good omen for the duo as they got a perfect 30 for doing this Robotic act on the song Kolaveri Di.
Experimenting with concepts and ideas gave them a high but they somehow could not impress the judges much with the hatke conept they presented as a fusion of semi jazz and semi classical on 'Ek Chatur Naar'
To impress the Tiger aka Salman Khan, Shibani did a fabulous belly dancing but coul not impress the audience much. This performance brought the end of Jhalak journey for Shiabni and Punit.
Karan Johar tweeted that this was the most unfortunate elimination on Jhalak. Madhuri Dixit couln't control her tears and Remo was highly disappointed with the public voting and the Judges requested the Duo to perform for the lat time before leaving the Jhalak stage.
