Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- Dancing with the Stars made its debut on Colors TV on June 16th. This song and dance extravaganza had some of the best people in their respective fields competing against each other and being judged by the awesome trio of Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'Souza and Karan Johar.

The show started right after the much hyped and loved IPL season and continued to provide the glimpses of the cricketing league with two of IPL’s gorgeous anchors, Archana Vijaya and Shibani Dandekar.

Isha Sharvani, a combination of great looks and powerful dancing, added to the oomph factor of the show. She was one of the most proficient dancers and also went on get perfect 30 scores eleven times, the maximum number ever!
It was also the first time ever that a teen star became a part of the show. Darsheel Safary entered the show as a contestant with a choreographer-partner Avneet Kaur.
Season of many firsts
Adding to the many firsts was the entry of a common man on this dancing platform. Sushil Kumar of KBC fame joined the stars in this colourful journey, representing the aam aadmi.
Television stars dazzled the dancing platform
Leading male of the Indian television Gurmeet Chaudhary gave dancing a shot with this show. And, now we know why he inspires mass hysteria among girls. Don’t we?
One more attraction of the show wasBhojpuri superstar, Ravi Kissen, who offered a great deal of Bollywood masala and wholesome entertainment.
A dose of laughter
Apart from surprising the judges with her flexibility, Bharti became the life of the show with her antics and chemistry with Manish Paul that went on to become the highlight of the entire season!
Meet the anchors

Week 1
The show kick-started with a lot of jazz, wherein the thundering thirteen contestants of the seasons were introduced. (Watch the opening episode of the season now!)
Jhalak paid tribute to the Indian Cinema in the second week. The show opened with a short intro of the theme by the judges as they paid homage to the black and white era. Madhuri Dixit and Karan Johar performed on 'Pyar hua iqraar hua,' the most romantic song ever!
Highlight of the day week
An unforgettable performance by Isha Sharvani and Salman Khan set the order of the day. This good looking duo summarized the story of Silk Smitha in just two minutes, on the songs “Oh La La" & "Honeymoon ki raat" from The Dirty Picture. Watch their spine-tingling performance here!
Week two also saw the first eviction of the season. Talat Aziz who waltzed into our hearts with his 'Dil toh Baccha hai ji' act got eliminated after his entertaining 'Chora Ganga kinare wala,' performance. Click to watch his journey!
Week 3
Third week was declared as the ‘Dance Attack’ and we saw some unique and original acts by the contestants. From Salsa to Samba and Jazz to Tango, it was something we had never seen it before!
Highlight of the week
Bharti's energetic lavani left the judges and audience awestruck! Judge Remo was speechless and could only express himself with an 'I Love You!
This week, Jhalak bid farewell to the international guest Sanath Jayasuriya. Madhuri came up on the stage to share the dance floor with him and both did the signature steps of Sri Lanka's Baila dance.
Week 4
The unique theme of the week four was Zodiac Signs. Each contestant was given a zodiac sign and voila! They all chose one of the zodiac personality traits and presented some beautiful acts.
Archana Vijaya and her choreographer partner Sanam Johar, who took the dance floor by storm got eliminated in the fourth week itself. According to the judges, her looks always took the attention away from her performances. Click to catch Archana's journey on Jhalak
Week 5
We were now into the fifth week of the show and the judges demanded some Entertainment, but with a twist. The contestants took this challenge in their stride, and gave some mind-blowing performances that left the stage thundering.
Highlight of the week
The spooky act by Isha and Salman was not only spine-chilling but also revealed the extent of flexibility this pretty actress can go to.
Due to excessive stress and work-pressure, Pratyusha Banerjee fell sick. Her bad health affected her previous week's performance.
Week 6
It was difficult to satiate the expectations of the Judges on Jhalak, that's why they came up with their own challenges for each contestant in the sixth week.
Highlight of the week
The docile bahu of Indian television, Giaa Manek, after pushing her limits for six weeks, finally got a standing ovation for a beautifully composed aerial act.Watch the video now!
Jayati Bhatia bid adieu to Jhalak in the sixth week. Her elegance and expressions got the maximum compliments from the judges. But, it was Karan Johar's challenge for her to dance in heels that saw the end of her Jhalak journey.
Week 7
As Jhalak entered the seventh week, the entire film and television fraternity got an emotional shock with the sad demise of Rajesh Khanna. Jhalak paid tribute to the original superstar through their dance in this week.
In the eight week, the contestants were asked to put their Best Foot Forward and do what they can do the best. The biggest challenge for the contestants here was to surpass the standards they had set for themselves.
Highlight of the week
As the contestants went through the agni-pareeksha, there were three Wild Card entries on the show. Rashmi Sandhu, Rithvik Dhanjani and Karan Wahi got the ticket to be a part of the biggest celebrity dance show of the year. (Catch the high-voltage wild card episode now!)
An absolute entertainer, Ravi Kissen got eliminated in the eighth week of the show. Be it Bhojpuri latka-jhatka or the Chulbul Pandey's Dabangg act, he was the undisputed rockstar of the show. Watch his entertaining journey Now!
Week 9
With the wild card entrants on board, Judges demanded for some ‘Toofani’ remix from the contestants in the ninth week of the show. This week Isha's choreographer Salman sustained an injury during the technical rehearsals and was thus unable to perform. Cornell replaced Salman for the week and Isha got the least scores ever!
Highlight of the week
With her first performance itself, Rashmi Sandhu posed as a serious threat to the other contestants by earning a perfect 30 in her first attempt!
This week saw the start of the group relays along with the individual performances. Theme of the week was ‘Popular Jodis of Bollywood’. Watch how Rashmi and Deepak brought back the memories of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun!

Salman Khan was the special guest on the show this week and being the most loved Khan, contestants dedicated their performances to him. Watch the episode now!
The Judges were counting them as one of the finalists, but the tenth week of the show saw the most shocking elimination of Shibani and Punit. This duo gave some out of the box performances and was certainly one of the strongest contenders to reach the finals. Catch their hatke performances in Jhalak!
Week 11
This week Jhalak’s stage was adorned with multiple colours and corresponding themes. The episode was based on 'Jhalak ke rang' and 'Back to bachpan' where the contestants had to perform twice covering both the themes.
Highlight of the week
Wild Card entrant Rithvik and his partner Sneha gave one of the most soulful aerial act performances this week (Take a look)
Small wonder Darsheel and his cute partner Avneet got eliminated in the eleventh week of the show. During their stay in the show, this duo gave some mind-blowing performances, shocking their co-contestants on the show. (watch their journey in the show)
Week 12
It was another week of double themes- Kuch Hatke Dikha & Brahmastra. This week, professional dancers from Dancing with the Stars (US version) were also introduced to perform with the remaining six contestants in the next week.
Highlight of the week
Isha Sharvani gave her most difficult performance ever! She with her partner Salman did Solstrom that surpassed all the expectations. (You will have to watch it to believe it). Judges also announced this week as a no elimination week, giving a chance to the contestants to perform with the international dancers.
Week 13
In the thirteenth week, international dancers of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ fame collaborated with the top six finalists and joined the Jhalak stage. The two themes this week were- ‘Judges as mentor’ and ‘Firangi Tadka.’ (Watch the episode here)
Highlight of the week
Isha Sharvani did not perform this week as she met with an accident while rehearsing for her act and was thus given the lowest scores (0) back-to-back for two performances. Isha's choreographers Salman and international partner Jaymz performed instead.
First time on the Indian stage, Rashmi & Deepak presented a beautifully conceptualized and executed UV act that took everyone on a fantasy trip. (Click to watch their performance!)
Since Isha got the lowest marks this week, she got the lowest votes as well. But, the judges didn't want to let go off their favourite contestant so early. Hence, they used their veto power and saved her.
Week 15
This week Jhalak invited the contestants from previous Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa seasons- Gauhar Khan, meiyang Chang, Mahi Vij and Yana Gupta . They performed with the final six contestants- Gurmeet, Bharti, Rashmi and Rithvik. As Isha still had not recovered, she did not perform in this episode.
Highlight of the week
Despite her injury Isha did give a solo performance in the next episode. She did an extraordinary rope malkhamb act that too with just one hand! (Watch her performance here!)
Week 15
After being announced as one of the contestants in the bottom two with Rashmi, Bharti withdrew from the competition to protest Isha's stay on the show despite her being unable to deliver any performances for the last couple of weeks. She later said that it was due to the medical reasons that she did not perform. And we got our finalists!
Isha was originally announced as a finalist for the title; however, due to persistent injuries that she faced, she withdrew from the competition and Rashmi, in turn, was given a place in the Grand Finale. Watch the episode here!
